Mouth watering Stuffed/Bharwa Green Mirchi Pakora - chai's perfect partner

Stuffed/Bharwa mirchi pakora are stuffed with mashed potatoes than dipped in gram flour batter and deep fried.

I first tasted this ‘Bharwa Mirchi Pakora’ or ‘Stuffed Mirchi Pakora’ while our trip to Rajasthan. It is a popular street in Rajasthan. These pakoras are crunchy on outside but soft from inside with a tangy and spicy potato mixture.

Ingredients

  • 2 boiled mashed potatoes
  • 1 finely-chopped onion
  • 1½ tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 8-10 thick green chillies
  • 1 cup gram flour
  • Water as needed
  • Vegetable oil for deep frying

Preparation Method

1. For the stuffing, take mashed potatoes in a bowl, add onions, red chili powder, salt, chopped coriander and lemon juice, mix well all together

2. Slice and de-seed the thick green chillies and stuff them with the mixture

3. Take gram flour in a bowl, add salt, red chilli powder and water, and make a batter out of it

4. In a deep pan heat vegetable oil

5. Dip the stuffed chillies in the flour batter and then deep fry them in the pan till golden brown.

6. Serve Stuffed/Bharwa Mirchi Pakora during rain along with a hot cup of tea.
