Three-year-old Noah Woods went missing from a playground in Suffolk (UK) yesterday afternoon in the UK.
Noah was playing at the Merriam Close playground when he became separated from a relative at around 3pm. He was reported to have run down an alleyway beside the playground towards a nearby new-build housing estate.
Noah is non-verbal, has partial hearing loss and is autistic. A huge search operation was launched, involving police, search and rescue teams, helicopters, specialist dogs, divers and around 1,300 members of the public.
People searched through the night and continued into today. Then, this afternoon, specialist dive teams recovered the body of a child from Decoy Pond, a nearby pond in Brantham. Police say the circumstances are currently being treated as unexplained and not suspicious.
And then I realised something. This is a repeat of what happened last year.
A completely different country. Another three-year-old. Also non-verbal. Also autistic.
And now, a year later, almost the exact same pattern appears again.
