Delta Airlines is scaling back parts of its network as the peak summer travel period comes to a close, with five routes scheduled to be discontinued over the next several weeks.

The changes will affect flights in New York City as well as Delta's Las Vegas network. Three of the cuts involve New York, while two routes connecting Las Vegas with Southern California are also being removed from the carrier's schedule.

The route reductions are scheduled to take place between early November and 19 December 2026.

Three New York routes discontinued

New York will see the largest share of Delta's upcoming route cuts.

The airline plans to discontinue two routes from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and one from LaGuardia Airport (LGA).

At JFK, Delta will end service to Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) and Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE). At LaGuardia, the carrier will discontinue flights to Tulsa International Airport (TUL).

Delta said the changes are part of its regular network-planning process, in which it adjusts capacity according to demand.

The five discontinued routes and their scheduled end dates are:

• Las Vegas (LAS) to San Diego International Airport (SAN): Nov. 8
• Las Vegas (LAS) to John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County: Nov. 8
• New York LaGuardia (LGA) to Tulsa International Airport (TUL): Nov. 9
• New York JFK to Palm Springs International Airport (PSP): Saturday-only service ends Dec. 19
• New York JFK to Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE): Dec. 19

Delta will continue flying between New York and Milwaukee

Passengers who previously relied on Delta's JFK-Milwaukee flights will still have a nonstop option.

Although the airline is ending its service from JFK, it continues to operate four daily round-trip flights between LaGuardia and Milwaukee.

That means the New York-Milwaukee market will not lose Delta service entirely, although travelers who prefer JFK will need to use another airport or airline once the route ends.

Las Vegas loses two Southern California routes

Delta's other two route cuts are focused on Las Vegas.

Beginning Nov. 8, the airline will stop flying between Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) and both San Diego International Airport and John Wayne Airport in Orange County.

The reductions are being driven by softer demand for Las Vegas travel during the winter. However, the cuts won't mean a complete disappearance of Delta flights on either route.

The airline intends to bring back limited service between Las Vegas and both San Diego and Orange County in early January. Those flights are expected to accommodate travelers heading to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the enormous annual technology event held in Las Vegas.

Delta has historically placed an emphasis on serving the surge in travel associated with CES.

Delta isn't the only carrier adjusting its schedule in the market. Las Vegas airport is set to have approximately 7% fewer flights overall in 2026 compared with the previous year.

The reductions come after Las Vegas experienced a decline in visitor numbers.

Data from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau shows that the city welcomed 7.5% fewer visitors in 2025 than it did in 2024.

The tourism organisation described the period as one of the "more complex operating environments" the industry had experienced outside the COVID-19 pandemic.
