George Galloway and wife held at Gatwick Airport under Terrorism Act

George Galloway and his wife were detained by police at Gatwick Airport on Saturday under the Counter-Terrorism and Border Security Act.

The former MP had just landed in London after flying in from Moscow via Abu Dhabi, according to reports.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said George Galloway and Putri Gayatri Pertiwi were detained under Schedule 3 of the 2019 Counter-Terrorism and Border Security Act, a law that lets officers stop, question, search, or detain people at the border if they suspect involvement in hostile activity.
